RIM Sets Out To Kill Apple…Too
Written by AndroidGuys • Apr 28th, 2008 • Category: Hardware News, Leaks, Rumors, and Hacks, Recent NewsHere we go again - Another iPhone killer. In this case, it’s an “A K” as in Apple Killer, courtesy of RIM engineers. That’s the code name of a device that bares the BlackBerry name lurking in some secret laboratory over at the RIM Headquarters. With the recent announcement from Apple that they will implement Microsoft’s corporate e-mail technology into the iPhone, RIM has finally realized the threat the iPhone proposes to their beloved BlackBerry.
According to the New York Times, Research in Motion is expected to release a new BlackBerry phone in May, code named “Kids Next Door”. It’s also got a working title of “Meteor”. The new BlackBerry will boast a larger screen, faster processor, better browser that more resembles that of a PC, keyboard, sexy curves and lastly, 3G. Sadly, we have heard all these claims before, only to be disappointed when the actual hardware steps under the wings of device vultures.
With the BlackBerry engineers conjuring up early hype of “Meteor” they better be praying that it delivers or crucifixion will be the order of that blessed day when hardware gets into palms, and palms get into softwares.
Just like with all the other iPhone competitors, we’ll be watching the 9000 series closely. We’re anxious for the day when the first Google Android phone takes to the battlefield - When Google goes on the offensive and RIM, Apple and others are put on the defense.
