AndroidGuys on Forbes.com Today
Written by AndroidGuys • Apr 15th, 2008 • Category: Recent News, Related NewsYesterday we were contacted by Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes.com who was looking to write an article on the Android Developer Challenge entries. Woyke handles the tech beat on Forbes and has written articles on Android before. We’re happy to report that we are quoted a few times within the piece.
We also noticed a few of the developers that were in her article were from our Developer Spotlight Series. Congrats to Lightning Toads and ShookLabs for being included as well!
The piece is called “First Androids Return To Base” and talks about the types of programs that were developed for the challenge as well as the stipulations and potential prizes being made available.
Thanks again to Elizabeth for reaching out to us and including us in the article!
AndroidGuys is is mentioned in the latest issue (July '08) of WIRED.

Very cool piece. I was wondering if a developer would want to make a “Meet Me” style application.
Where 2 people have a android phone and somehow the phone could sense who was around them in a graphical display.
So if you are on a subway and there is someone directly across from you (hot flirty chick) and you point your phone you could send a messages and she could accept or reject, kind of like a personal area instant messenger that works with people around you… and you can allow people to see you or not..
It would really help when you lock eyes with someone and you both just “know” but maybe your going different directions…you could point and kinda “lock” phones together for quick messages back and forth…without revealing personal infomation…without having to ask her for her number…it just kinda knows and masks private info but maybe just displays her alias…
Just thought it would be a really neat way to interact without having to try to shout to someone or come up with a smooth pick up line….just text her!
