Android Colosseum Interviews Webtide

Our fellow Android enthusiast over at Android Colosseum was able to score an interview with Webtide, makers of the open-source JAVA web-server “Jetty”. For those of you not familiar with Jetty, it’s the first HTTP server written in Java, dating all the way back to 1995. Jetty allows you to browse and acccess information stored on your phone, such as contact lists, call logs and system settings either from the on-board browser or from an external browser.

Android Colosseum had the chance to speak with Greg Wilkins, the main developer behind Jetty and Jan Bartel, the guy handling theporting of Jetty to Android (i-jetty).

Sending email to people on your contacts list can be done quickly and conveniently from an external browser by simply clicking the appropriate link on the contacts page - no issues with having to sort out connectivity between your desktop and phone and then synchronizing address books etc etc. In the future we’d like to expose more of the phone’s sevices - geolocation, webcam etc - over the web. The possibilities are limitless!

Head over there and read the interview. It’s rather in-depth, but still easy to understand.
