Audience Makes US Debut With an Industry First
Written by AndroidGuys • Apr 1st, 2008 • Category: Hardware News, Recent NewsCTIA Wireless 2008 is taking place right now and a handful of Open Handset Alliance members are there showing off their wares. Audience, the voice processor company from Mountain View, is out there and demonstrating the first voice processor based on human hearing.
The processor enables instantaneous noise suppression of 25 dB for both stationary and non-stationary noise to provide unparalleled voice quality, even in the noisiest environments. Because the Audience Voice Processor handles signals the way people actually perceive specific sounds, it is able to identify and suppress noise sources in an extremely efficient and accurate manner.
Sounds to us like you’re not gonna have any trouble drunk dialing your ex girlfriend from the bar. She’ll be able to hear you fine over the group of idiots you brought along. In all seriousness, we are excited about this breakthrough. There are far too many times when people are forced to call back later because the party on the other end cannot discern the caller’s voice from everything else. We look forward to seeing this technology implemented into Android handsets. According to the press release, it’s designed to fit into mid-tier and high-tier phones. Exactly the kind of phones we hope to see from the Open Handset Alliance.
