On the heels of the JD Powers report of Sprints poor network performance, today we learn that ousted CEO Gary Forsee earned $40 million during 2007, and he’s set to make close to $100,000 per year for the remainder of his life. You can read the complete article here at www.kansascity.com. Given the current landscape of corporate CEO’s this news probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to many people. However, it is still hard for us to believe or even stomach the fact that someone could make this kind of money when stores are closing and other people are losing their jobs! I work for a company that holds me accountable. If the performance of my store falls off I have to answer for it personally, and I can’t remember ever receiving a windfall after a poor performance rating.

I know these contracts are negotiated ahead of time, and Forsee is only getting what is legally owed him. But how about holding yourself accountable? How about living up to those same values I’m sure you hold your store managers and sales reps to?

Take a minute to read the complete article. Afterwards I’m sure you’ll be shaking your head in disgust just as I was.
