Icahn Continues To Squeeze Motorola

Corporate take over strategist Carl Icahn continues to pressure Motorola to release documents pertaining to the company’s hiring of senior executives. Icahn, who owns about 6% of the fledgling cell phone manufacturers stock has even threatened a lawsuit if Motorola doesn’t comply. You can check out the complete article here on Chicago Tribune.com.

Carl Icahn was recently profiled on CBS’s 60 Minutes, and is akin to the character Richard Gere played in Pretty Woman. He buys up struggling companies when they are vulnerable, breaks it up into pieces, then sells them off for a tidy profit. It looks as though Motorola’s woes will continue into the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see if and how this affects their membership and contributions to the Open Handset Alliance.
